Hole Marking Tool Guide

The NineDartR hole marking tool makes it easy to accurately position your three camera mounts around the dartboard.

Camera positions are described using a clock-face reference. While several layouts can work, camera positioning can affect dart detection — particularly around the 20 segment.

Before You Start

These instructions apply to:

✓ Winmau Plasma

✓ Target Corona

✓ NineDartR Light Ring

✕ Mission Torus 270 – see separate instructions below

The Mission Torus 270 uses a slightly different mounting layout. If you're installing NineDartR mounts with a Torus 270, please follow the dedicated instructions further down this page.

Recommended Camera Positions

For the Winmau Plasma, Target Corona and NineDartR Light Ring, we recommend positioning the cameras at:

3 / 7 / 11 o'clock

This provides three evenly spaced camera positions at approximately 120° intervals around the dartboard.

We recommend avoiding layouts such as 12 / 4 / 8 o'clock, as camera placement around the 20 segment can affect visibility and detection.

Small rotational adjustments are fine where necessary to avoid wall studs, existing fixings or other obstructions. Try to maintain approximately 120° spacing between all three cameras.

What You'll Need

• Dartboard wall hook – already installed

• Pencil or marker

• Spirit level – included with the marking tool

Step 1 – Mark the 3 o'clock Position

Leave your existing dartboard wall hook in place and insert the NineDartR marking tool into the hook.

Rotate the tool until the arm points towards the 3 o'clock position.

Use the supplied spirit level to make sure the arm is level.

Holding the tool firmly in position:

① Mark both reference slots on the wall.

② Mark the two mounting holes for the 3 o'clock camera position.

Step 2 – Mark the 7 o'clock Position

Rotate the marking tool anti-clockwise until it aligns with reference mark 1 created during Step 1.

Hold the tool firmly in position and mark the two mounting holes for the 7 o'clock camera position.

Step 3 – Mark the 11 o'clock Position

Continue rotating the marking tool anti-clockwise until it aligns with reference mark 2.

Hold the tool firmly and mark the two mounting holes for the 11 o'clock camera position.

You should now have three mounting positions spaced approximately 120° apart at 3 / 7 / 11 o'clock.

Before Drilling

Before drilling any holes:

  1. Double-check all three mounting positions.
  2. Make sure the positions are approximately 120° apart.
  3. Check for hidden pipes, electrical cables or other services behind the wall.
  4. Make sure the mounting location and fixings are suitable for your wall type.
  5. If you've made a small adjustment to one position to avoid an obstruction, check that the three cameras will still be reasonably evenly spaced.

Final Notes

Once installed, make sure all three camera mounts are securely fixed and positioned consistently around the dartboard.

Small differences in rotational position are acceptable where necessary. Maintaining stable mounting, consistent camera geometry and approximately equal spacing is more important than hitting an exact clock position.

Pro Tip 💡

For the best AutoDarts setup:

  1. Keep the three camera positions evenly spaced.
  2. Maintain consistent camera height and distance from the board.
  3. Keep camera viewing angles consistent.
  4. Avoid positioning a camera directly above the 20 segment where possible.
  5. Check all three camera views before completing AutoDarts calibration.
